about

This was the last track to be written for 'The Lotus Eaters'. I'd been obsessed with this Mary Oliver poem and kept coming back to it while writing and recording the other songs - then I realised it needed to be on the EP to fully complete it. I dreamed most of these songs into life so it just seemed fitting to start with this as an overture.

lyrics

Someone I loved once gave me
a box full of darkness.

It took me years to understand
that this, too, was a gift.
