about

This song has a twin soul, in an electroacoustic piece I wrote at art school called 'Five Years Without Words'. They share the same piano phrase and are both about lost friendships - one to death and one to emotional distance, I guess. Just growing apart, very painfully. It's also a love song between the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies, which are oh so slowly drifting towards each other. In about 4 billion years they'll be in each others arms.

lyrics

Meaning finds its way around, around you
Who are you to love
Who are you to find me
Desire hides in faces, in faces
But in yours she is searching, searching blindly

Words spiral and stars, and you
Curve in my mind
Gaze concealing what you may be eliding
This is not the first time I’ll ask you to stay
But we both know you can’t just drift away

We meet between the border, the border
Of Mexico and the Milky Way
We just don’t know when or how
To go and when or what to say, anymore

Take your place among a billion stars
They all know who you are
Your brilliant shot in the dark
Has taken you so far, taken you so far
Away

Words spiral and stars, and you
Curve in my mind
Gaze concealing but I know that you’re leaving
This is the last time I’ll ask you to stay
Funny to think you’re only four billion years away
